Randomness

Last Wednesday, while playing Ultimate Frisbee, Tim landed on another guy's foot and rolled his ankle. The other guy is fine. :-) Tim is doing well - still hobbling along but no longer needing his cane :D

Myra is teething like crazy - if I forget to put a bib on her I inevitably will need to change her outfit due to all the excess drool. :D

Teething has also been interfering with Myra's quality of sleep. She seems to have a particularly hard time settling down for her day time naps. Today I tried covering half her face with a light blanket - usually Myra will turn her face under the blanket and fall asleep. This is what I found when I went to check on her - :D (makes me laugh every time).

"Reading"

That's all for today. I have a table stacked with dirty dishes to wash and chopped ingredients I need to cook into some gumbo.

Cheers!

WEEKEND FUN

Enjoyable. Leisurely. Fun. Laughter. All words I would use to describe our weekend. Here are some of the highlights...

Mmmmm....perogies and farmer sausage :-) We were inspired to make perogies when we discovered that the MCC sale here does not serve them. In fact, 99% of people will give you a very quizzical look if you mention farmer sausage - no idea what it is. So on Friday Rosanna, Myra, and I spent the afternoon with Sandy and tried our hand at perogie making. We made cottage cheese, potato + cheddar, and blueberry perogies. They were sooooo good!

While we were busy rolling out dough, Myra was busy trying to eat her toes :D

The MCC sale was held this weekend in Goshen - Tim ran a 5 km race to benefit the sale and met his goal to finish under 30 minutes :-) His official time was 25:41 min.

Bath time fun...

Sunday lunch at the Olive Garden - mmmm breadsticks!

After lunch we decided to explore the park here in Elkhart and were pleased to discover a nicely paved walkway/trail along the river and lots of wide open space for picnics and enjoying nature.

This sculpture? caught our attention - on closer inspection we noticed that it is a marching band - couldn't help but take some silly pictures :-)

Cute expression...

Hoping your day is peace-filled :-)

We are having so much fun with Auntie Rosanna! ...enjoying Starbucks coffees, talking, blogging side by side, hanging out with Sandy, and shopping, shopping, shopping. Myra is set for the fall season - our favorite finds: super cute jeans and adorable brown mary jane shoes.

Modeling the scarf and hat my Auntie Dorothy made...

Snoozing in the Target shopping cart...

SO ADORABLE!!!!

FINALLY!!! My living room is set up and clean :-) Every night for the past two weeks I have told myself "tomorrow I'll clean the living room" and each day, for some reason or another, it never got done - till today :)

Thought you might like a glimpse. Now whether it will stay clean is a whole other challenge :)

Here's Myra, just after a nap - guess she wasn't quite as ready to be awake as I thought. :)

Picture Perfect

Myra hanging out in the laundry room with me. I like this big table cause it makes it easy to fold our clothes right when they come out of the dryer rather than having piles of clean clothes upstairs.

"Ha ha mom! I got a sock!"

Myra enjoying a walk around campus with Tim.

We had such a good day today :) Myra woke up around 8 am which was lovely, then while she had a nap around 9:30 I decided I would sleep as well. When Myra woke up from that I was sooo sleepy, so I brought her into bed with me and we both slept for another hour :-) I felt so happy when I woke up after that! After lunch my friend Hannah came over and brought their exersaucer for Myra to try. She loved it! I made spaghetti for dinner and then headed off to my friends Sandy and Rob's to hang out while Tim had class. It was a good day.

Something Tim and I have been having fun with is telling Myra "secrets" - we lean really close to her ear and whisper things - Myra gets really still and leans her head toward our faces and smiles :) It's fun.

Until next time....

YIPPEE!!!

We were so excited to hear the news that Ethan Andrew Loewen arrived safe and sound yesterday morning :) He weighed 8 lb 11 oz and measured 21 inches in length.

Congratulations Dan and Lynn! Wish we could be there to celebrate with you!

Much ado about nothing

Well, we are slowly but surely settling in to routines and life here in Indiana. Myra usually falls asleep for night around 7:30 P.M., wakes up to feed at 9 and then at 3:30 and then wakes up in the morning between 7:15 - 7:30. I usually go to bed after midnight and so feel like 7:30 A.M. is much to early when really it is quite a reasonable hour to wake up. :-) So something fun we've been doing is getting Myra and putting her in bed between us and snoozing for another half hour or so in the morning. Sometimes Myra sleeps as well and sometimes she babbles and tries to grab our noses :)

This morning Myra and I joined my friend Hannah for a walk around the school campus. (about 1 mile in length) Myra was ready for her first nap of the day when we started out, hence the soother and sleepy eyes in this next picture.

The rest of the day was spent tackling my kitchen and cuddling with Myra. (She has a bit of a cold right now and doesn't like being left on the floor to play or having to sleep in the crib - she'd rather be held)

I figure I spent about 3 full hours scrubbing 4 cabinet doors, cleaning my range hood and doing dishes. There were definitely moments of disgustingness - check out the filter for the stove fan - the one on the left is the dirty gross one. Not sure if it ever has been changed :S

Tim is currently immersed in orientation and preparation for the start of classes. His first class is on Friday morning. The days are a mixture of tediousness, anticipation, and fun with new friends.
A welcome break from the information overload today was opening the package from Amazon.com and watching the first few episodes of Simpsons - season 10 :)

That was our day in a nut shell. Anyone feel like coming to sit on my couch tomorrow? I'll make some tea :)

Here's a random video of Myra "eating" her toy. :) Not the most entertaining, I know but hey, at least you get to see her in action.

Cheers!
